As I grow older, I’ve noticed that I have a hard time saying “No”. On the rare occasions I do say “no” I am overcome by an absurd amount of guilt. It doesn’t matter if the request was absurd or if I just absolutely couldn’t manage to help an individual at that moment, I still feel horrible. I can’t help it. I don’t know why end up feeling so badly but I do. I’ve even noticed that some people will take advantage of your inability to say no while others will insist you please them by disregarding your answer.
Did you know?
There is nothing wrong with saying “no”. You aren’t a bad person. You aren’t selfish or mean. You have every absolutely every right to say “no” when you don’t want to do things. There are moments in your life where you will do things for others when they aren’t convenient to you and that’s good and fine. You should help others! However, you should never feel badly about being unable to do something when you cannot. You aren’t a miracle worker. You aren’t a monster. The ability to say no will not instantly turn you into a negative Nelly. There is a downside with saying no too often and that’s when you become too negative and sacrifice personal growth or friendships because of fear or inconvenience. Still, you have the choice to say yes or say no. It is yours to make and neither response will turn you cruel.
I have gotten better at saying no, although it is difficult at times. I do love to help others. It’s one of my favorite things to do. If I can help another person I know I’ve done well. Nevertheless, I cannot forget to say “yes” to me which sometimes means saying “no” to others and that’s OKAY!
I <3 you! I hope that I didn't make you feel too badly today. You can always, always, ALWAYS tell me 'no'. ^__^
You didn’t! <3 You're always super understanding. I was mainly just sad about not being able to see you. 🙁 I would have preferred spending time with you at my place and getting our blog on.
We will see each other soon! <3 and the world better watch out for our blog! Not sure the internet is ready. ; )
My wife has the worst time with saying no and because of it she has two friends that are always taking advantage of her. I hate that they do it to her.
I can relate to that. I’ve come to realize how much people hate hearing the word no. I’ve had to repeat myself so many times when I don’t want to do things.
