I’m the type of person that both loves and hates surprises. I’ll say yes to surprise cake or a surprise purse but not so much to a surprise bill. I loathe surprise bills. They’re like a Jack in the Box you’re not sure if it’s coming, you think it will, but you’re terrified the entire time. My favorite kind of surprises are the ones that bring good news, hope, and in particular those surprise messages from a family member or friend. Be that as it may, you can always learn something from a sad surprise even if it’s not what you wanted or expected.
Did you know?
Surprises are great even when they aren’t a pleasant surprise. I’ve noticed that there’s always something to learn from inconveniences. Maybe that surprise bill could have come at a more inappropriate time? How about some friends called you a while back to tell you they’ll be visiting you next week but they’re actually in town… TODAY! There’s always a silver lining in these surprises. Learn to take pleasure in the unexpected. Roll with the punches, even! I’ve vowed to be more open to inconveniences. Take more risks! You never know when things that you personally feel will be unpleasant turn out to be rather fun and shall I dare say… pleasant?
