Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies

Baking

My life is in disarray. I kid you not. Since the move, I’ve had the most horrible time trying to get back on track. After having created two of the most unappetizing recipes, I stared at my hands in disbelief and cursed them for bringing such atrocities to life. These food-like substances made me question my ability to prepare anything edible. Food? What is food? I spent the last 2 weeks desperately seeking my culinary muse. His name is Nom and he isn’t always cooperative. However, I was determined to bake anything. Anything that would make me feel a bit better about myself and life in general. Luckily, Nom reared his pretty little head on Wednesday. Check out the results!

1. Prepare the oven for battle. It has been a long winter. The oven has remained dormant for far too long. Offer it a few words of encouragement. You’re a seasoned warrior. The culinary war zone is not new to you; you’ve fought countless culinary battles. Each of your scars has a story, “I got this burnt last week! Oven-mitts are for the weak!” Your boasts will fuel the oven’s desire to be as useful as it could possibly be, in which case, you will quickly preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Do not forget to thank the oven for the services rendered.
2. In a medium sized bowl, cream the sugar, peanut butter, and egg together.
3. To the creamy brown concoction add the flour and baking soda then begin to mix. The flour will prove to be a restless adversary. Do not fret! Simply add 2 tbs of milk to this dry opponent. The milk will quickly calm the flour allowing you enough time to integrate it to the mixture.
4. Once all the ingredients are combined, add the chocolate. These mini morsels are here to maintain order among the other ingredients. They might appear small to the naked eye but they are packed with sass and will not tolerate disorder.
5. In an ungreased baking sheet (or you could line it with parchment paper), roll your cookie dough into balls and bake anywhere from 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
