Outfit of the Date

Blogging

Yes, it’s not an outfit of the day, it’s an outfit of the date. My day-to-day outfit consists of a pair of pajamas. I’m somewhat of a homebody so when I

choose to go out, I like to look spiffy. As some of you may have read, I’ve picked up sewing. I intend to make at least one clothing item I can use when I go out. For the last month or so, I have been learning how to make short, elasticized,  high-wasted skirts. I’ve been sewing a few other projects on the side but nothing too fancy. This is an outfit I wore last week and I am in love with it.
image(I’m sure you can spot my little Fluff-pup in this picture and yes, I’m standing on a chair because I am dreadfully short)

This outfit consists of a bright blue BEBE cardigan, Red Herring white booty/sneaker shoes, some plain ol’ white socks, a cupcake skirt (I done made it myself!), a white shirt, and a silver belt. Most of these things I got as a gift and if you intend to recreate an outfit like this, you can just get similar items! I’m sure you can find them!

I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy so doing something like makes me a bit nervous. However, the older I become, the more I realize that I can be a girly and LABELS DON’T MATTER.  I’m going to be true to who I am. Girl power and what not!

And this is the makeup look for this outfit. I used Retrospeck by MAC all over my lid, Craving by MAC on the lips, a bright pink blush by NYX (not sure which, I can’t make out the name) and eyeko eyeliner to line my eyes. Like I said, I’m very new to the whole makeup and fashion bit so I’m learning as I go.

Here’s a picture with the glasses:

  1. I can’t even deal with your beauty and your grace (are you, per chance, Miss United States?).

  2. I love what you’re wearing and it is so good to be able to make your own clothes. The make up was awesome too. You have beautiful eyes Mely! And the tiny mole above your lips just accentuate your sensuality. Fluff-pup must be wondering why you’re on the chair, hahaha…

    1. Thank you for that lovely comment. I never considered that the puppy would be confused at me being on a chair but you’re right. It must be really strange for him.

  3. I have an odd relationship with make-up. I enjoy putting it on and making myself look a little different, but I worry that if I wear it too often that it will become the expectation and I also hate the notion that girls only wear it to attract men.

    1. I can understand your worries. However, I believe one should only wear makeup for oneself not for the benefit of others. I choose to wear makeup because it makes me feel pretty good. I do not base my self-worth on it nor does it change who I am. My sister is a makeup artist and absolutely loves the stuff. She also loves not wearing makeup. It really just depends on the person.
